Turnover in industry grew by 5.6 per cent in March 2026

Turnover grew most in the chemical industry
Working day adjusted turnover increased most in March in the chemical industry, by 36.8 per cent from the previous year. Turnover in mining and quarrying was 21.2 per cent higher than one year earlier. Turnover in the food industry increased by 9.8 per cent and that in the metal industry by 2.1 per cent from one year before.
Turnover was 8.8 per cent lower in the electronic and electrical industry in March than one year ago. Turnover in the forest industry declined by 8.5 per cent. Turnover decreased by 3.3 per cent from one year ago in both electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply and the textile, clothing and leather industry.
Export turnover grew most in mining and quarrying
In March, export turnover grew most in mining and quarrying, up by 46.0 per cent from the previous year. Export turnover grew strongly also in the chemical industry, by 39.0 per cent from the year before. Export turnover in the food industry was 5.2 per cent higher than one year before. Export turnover decreased most in the forest industry, by 12.2 per cent from one year ago. Export turnover was lower than one year before also in the electronic and electrical industry (-11.5%), the textile, clothing and leather industry (-6.9%) and the metal industry (-0.4%).
Domestic turnover increased most in March in the chemical industry, by 28.7 per cent from the previous year. Domestic turnover in the electronic and electrical industry was 20.4 per cent higher than in the previous year. Domestic turnover also went up in the metal industry (11.3%), the food industry (10.7%) and the forest industry (1.6%). Domestic turnover decreased in mining and quarrying (-4.8%) and in the textile, clothing and leather industry (-0.3%).
Turnover decreased in March from the previous month
Seasonally adjusted turnover in industry decreased slightly, by 0.1 per cent, in March 2026 compared to February. In February, turnover increased by 3.0 per cent and in January by 4.4 per cent from the month before.
