Turnover in service industries grew by 4.8 per cent in April 2026

According to Statistics Finland, working day adjusted turnover in service industries grew by 4.8 per cent in April 2026 from April 2025. Service output or volume, from which the impact of prices has been eliminated, grew by 2.6 per cent over the same period. In March 2026, turnover grew of 5.8 per cent and volume correspondingly rose by 3.9 per cent. Services are here examined exclusive of trade.

All main service industries growing

In April 2026, growth in service industries was strongest in transportation and storage, where working day adjusted turnover went up by 7.7 per cent and volume by 5.0 per cent from April 2025. The growth in the industry was partly due to the situation in the Middle East, which has raised the costs of transport enterprises and directed customers to alternative routes.

Working day adjusted turnover in administrative and support service activities grew by 4.7 per cent and volume by 3.8 per cent in April 2026. Over the same period, working day adjusted turnover in professional, scientific and technical activities increased by 4.2 per cent and volume by 2.2 per cent. Working day adjusted turnover in real estate activities rose by 4.1 per cent and volume by 3.8 per cent in April 2026.

In April 2026, working day adjusted turnover in accommodation and food service activities grew by 3.6 per cent and volume by 1.1 per cent from April 2025. The working day adjusted turnover of information and communication activities went up by 3.3 per cent and volume by 0.8 per cent from April 2025. Working day adjusted turnover in other service activities went up by 3.2 per cent from April 2025. Turnover adjusted for working days in arts, entertainment and recreation rose by 2.4 per cent in April 2026 from one year ago.

Turnover and volume falling from the previous month

Seasonally adjusted turnover in service industries fell in April 2026 by 0.5 per cent compared to March. Service output or volume, from which the impact of prices has been eliminated, also fell by 0.5 per cent over the same period. In March 2026, turnover rose by 1.1 per cent and volume by 0.7 per cent from February.
