Turnover in service industries grew by 6,0 per cent in August 2026

Turnover growing in service industries

In August 2026, growth in service industries was strongest in transportation and storage, where working day adjusted turnover went up by 7.9 per cent from August 2025. The growth in turnover in the industry is due to risen prices in the industry. The volume of the industry went up by only 0.2 per cent in the corresponding period.

Working day adjusted turnover in professional, scientific and technical activities increased by 7.6 per cent and volume by 6.0 per cent in August 2026. Working day adjusted turnover in administrative and support service activities grew by 6.4 per cent and volume by 3.8 per cent from August 2025. Working day adjusted turnover in other service activities went up by 5.4 per cent in August 2026. Over the same period, turnover in information and communication increased by 5.1 per cent and volume by 3.3 per cent from August 2025.

Correspondingly, working day adjusted turnover in real estate activities grew by 4.4 per cent and volume by 4.7 per cent. Working day adjusted turnover in accommodation and food service activities grew by 3.7 per cent in August 2026, while the volume of the industry went up by 2.1 per cent. In arts, entertainment and recreation, working day adjusted turnover decreased by 3.4 per cent from the year before.

Turnover and volume falling from the previous month

Seasonally adjusted turnover in service industries declined in August 2026 by 0.1 per cent compared to July. Service output or volume, from which the impact of prices has been eliminated, also fell by 0.1 per cent over the same period. In July 2026, turnover and volume went up by 0.8 per cent from June.
