New orders in manufacturing grew by 7.7 per cent year-on-year in March 2026
releaseAccording to Statistics Finland, the value of new orders in manufacturing was 7.7 per cent higher in March 2026 than twelve months earlier. The value of new orders received by enterprises during January to March was 1.5 per cent higher than one year ago.

Changes in the examined main industries
Enterprises received more new orders in March 2026 than twelve months ago in the chemical industry and in the metal industry. New orders grew most in the chemical industry, where the value of orders was 37.5 per cent higher than in the year before. The value of new orders in the metal industry was 7.0 per cent higher than one year earlier. In the manufacture of paper, and paper and board products, orders declined by 1.1 per cent from one year ago.
When interpreting these statistics, it should be borne in mind that they typically show strong fluctuations by month. Even new orders of substantial value are not examined over extended time periods but for the statistical reference month only.
