Prices of liquid fuels fell in the last quarter of 2025 compared to one year ago

According to Statistics Finland, prices of liquid fuels and wood pellets decreased in the last quarter of 2025 compared to the corresponding period in 2024. Among the domestic fuels used in energy production, the user prices of forest chippings rose and those of milled peat remained unchanged.


Key selections

  • In December 2025, the consumer price of petrol decreased by one per cent, that of diesel by two per cent and that of light fuel oil by five per cent compared to the corresponding period in 2024.
  • The consumer price of wood pellets fell by 15 per cent in November 2025 compared to one year earlier.
  • The taxable price of milled peat remained unchanged in the last quarter of 2025 and the price of forest chippings rose by two per cent compared to the corresponding period of 2024.
  • The total price of electricity varied between -4 and 7 per cent in December 2025 for household customers compared to one year earlier. For enterprise and corporate customers, the price went down between 9 and 37 per cent.
  • The quarterly average price of renewable biodiesel has fallen by five per cent from the early part of 2025.
