Age group of employment rate changes

Date of change:

Statistics Finland's Labour Force Survey will start reporting the employment rate according to the 20 to 64 age group. Previously the employment rate has been examined in the 15 to 64 age group. The first data according to the new age group division will be published on 21 February 2023.

Persons aged 20 to 64 have been selected as the age group of the employment rate because this age group is the primary group on the labour market. The 20 to 64 age group is already commonly used in international employment rate measures and indicators.

At first, the employment rates of persons aged 15 to 64 as well as persons aged 20 to 64 will be published in the monthly Labour Force Survey.

Data on both persons aged 20 to 64 and those aged 20 to 69 are added to Table 135z Key indicators of the Labour Force Survey and their seasonal adjusted series and trends adjusted for random and seasonal variation in Statistics Finland's StatFin database for the Labour Force Survey.
