Job vacancy survey: Changes in the publication of statistics

Date of change:

Information about the change

Starting from the first quarter of 2025, the data collection for the Job Vacancy Survey was made more web-based, which means that the telephone data collection was reduced, as a result of which the net response rate was 64 per cent in the first quarter of 2025. The average net response rate for 2024 was 82 per cent.

The sample size was increased from 2,500 to 5,500 establishments to compensate for the grown non-response and to improve the accuracy of the statistics. Despite this, a lower response rate causes non-response bias, which cannot be fully corrected by stratified sampling in the statistics and this should be taken into consideration in the interpretation of the statistical data. For example, the response rate in central government establishments was higher than in other sectors due the non-response bias, which partly explains the year-on-year increase in the estimate of job vacancies in central government.
