The collected prices are used for calculating purchasing power parities for Finland. The calculation is carried out by Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Union, which also publishes the final annual results.
Purchasing power parity is used for measuring the value of a national economy's currency on the basis of how much goods and services can be purchased with it. This gives a more accurate picture of the output of the national economy per capita than by simply by converting the value of gross domestic product or gross national income (usually) into euros or US dollars.
The data are only published as index-based statistics at the product group level. The data of an individual store or product cannot be identified.
