International price comparison: Collection of price data for health care and furniture

Statistics Finland collects consumer prices representative of Finland for an international price comparison coordinated by Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the EU, a total of six times over a three-year period. In the price collection on health care and furniture, price data are mainly collected from the businesses’ websites. In exceptional cases, businesses can be contacted by telephone, email or visits to businesses. Centralised data available to Statistics Finland are used in the collection of price data on medical products. The price collection includes a representative sample of businesses of different sizes and types. The price data are collected from the websites of approximately 200 entrepreneurs, businesses or business chains. Statistics Finland collects about 2,000 to 3,000 prices and reports average prices for about 200 products. The above-mentioned price data on medical products are not included in these figures. The schedule for the next price surveys is: 2026 spring: services 2026 autumn: health care and furniture 2027 spring: food, beverages and tobacco 2027 autumn: clothing and footwear 2028 spring: domestic appliances and other household commodities 2028 autumn: vehicles, restaurants and hotels In addition, prices are collected every two years for machinery and equipment for the price comparison of investment commodities.

and available centralised data. In exceptional cases, data may be requested by email,
