Value added in manufacturing increased in 2013
According to Statistics Finland’s preliminary data, the gross value of output was EUR 119 billion in all manufacturing (BCDE) in year 2013. The gross value decreased in all main industries of manufacturing. The value added in all manufacturing was, however, the same as one year previously, i.e. EUR 29 billion. This was achieved as in manufacturing (C) the electrical and electronics industry in particular cut costs and improved margins, which resulted in higher value added.

In manufacturing (TOL C), net investments in tangible assets like buildings, machinery and equipment decreased from the previous year and amounted to EUR two billion.

The regional statistics on entrepreneurial activity describe the activity of establishments of enterprises operating in Finland by industry and region. The preliminary statistics have a less extensive content than the final statistics and they describe manufacturing industries.
Statistics Finland has renewed its production of business statistics. In connection with the renewal, uniform industries have been taken into use in all business statistics. Therefore, the time series of these statistics are not in all respects fully comparable.
