Finland’s greenhouse gas emissions 2018 to the EU and the UNFCCC

In 2018, Finland's greenhouse gas emissions without the LULUCF sector amounted to 56.4 million tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (mil. t CO2 eq.), being 14.8 million tonnes less than in the comparison year 1990. Emissions not included in the EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS) exceeded the annual emission allocation set by the EU by 0.3 million tonnes of CO2 equivalent. Total emissions (excl. LULUCF sector) remained more or less unchanged compared with the preliminary data published in December 2019. The data published now are based on the reporting of emission data to the EU and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). Based on them, Finland's emission allocations for emissions not included in the EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS) will be confirmed for the years 2021 to 2030.
