Retail trade sales grew by 3.6 per cent in May from one year ago
According to Statistics Finland, retail trade sales grew by 3.6 per cent in May from May 2012. The volume of retail trade sales, from which the impact of prices has been eliminated, went up by 1.9 per cent over the same period. In daily consumer goods trade, sales grew by 5.8 per cent and in department store trade by 4.4 per cent year-on-year. Wholesale trade sales contracted by 2.0 per cent and motor vehicle sales by 18.8 per cent from one year ago. In total trade, sales contracted by 2.7 per cent in May.

In the January to May period, retail trade sales grew by 1.4 per cent compared with the respective period of the previous year. In contrast, wholesale trade sales went down by 2.2 per cent and motor vehicle sales by 27.9 per cent over the corresponding period. In total trade, sales were down by 5.0 per cent in January to May on the respective period of the year before.
