Wholesale trade pushed down total trade sales by 3.6 per cent year-on-year in November
According to Statistics Finland, retail trade sales increased by 0.2 per cent in November from November 2012. In daily consumer goods trade, sales grew by 1.3 per cent and in department store trade by 0.9 per cent from one year ago. Wholesale trade sales fell by 6.1 per cent and in motor vehicle sales by 0.6 per cent from twelve months earlier. In total trade, sales decreased in November by 3.6 per cent from the corresponding period of the previous year.

In retail trade, the sales volume contracted by 0.3 per cent from November 2012. The sales volume in wholesale trade went down by 5.4 per cent and motor vehicle sales by 0.4 per cent from one year ago. Thus, the volume of sales in total trade decreased by 3.3 per cent year-on-year. The volume index of sales is calculated by removing the effect of price changes from the value index series.
Total trade sales fell in January to November by 3.4 per cent year-on-year
In the January to November period, retail trade sales grew by 0.4 per cent compared with the corresponding period of the previous year. In contrast, wholesale trade sales went down by 2.6 per cent and motor vehicle sales by 15.6 per cent over the corresponding period. In total trade, sales were down in January to November by 3.4 per cent on the respective period of the year before.
