Building construction enterprises renovated buildings to the value of EUR 5.6 billion in 2012
According to Statistics Finland, the value of newbuilding and renovation building projects was EUR 13.2 billion in building construction enterprises with at least five employees in 2012. Forty-three per cent of the projects concerned renovation building, i.e. around EUR 5.6 billion. Over one half of the renovation building projects were made by specialised construction enterprises.

Of all projects of large building construction enterprises with at least 50 employees, EUR 4.8 billion were directed to newbuilding and EUR 2.4 billion to renovation building. In medium-sized building construction enterprises with 10 to 49 employees, the value of building projects focused more on renovation than newbuilding. In small building construction enterprises with five to nine employees, the value of projects was EUR 1.8 billion, of which renovations accounted for 52 per cent.
Of all renovation projects, 53 per cent were renovations of other than residential buildings. EUR 2.6 billion was used on renovations of residential buildings. Large building construction enterprises centred their renovation projects on renovations of other than residential buildings, such as office, business, public and industrial buildings. Nearly 60 per cent of the renovations of medium-large and small building construction enterprises concerned residential buildings.
Starting from the statistical reference year 2012, the statistics on construction enterprises' renovation building are based on a sample of building construction enterprises with at least five employees. The inquiry comprises approximately 950 enterprises. The content of the inquiry was changed and the method of the statistics was revised starting from the statistical reference year 2012 and the data are not comparable with earlier years.
