ESA 2010 accordant Quarterly National Accounts time series published
The ESA 2010 review has changed the levels of National Accounts time series due especially to capitalisation of research and development expenditure. In Quarterly National Accounts, research and development investments are most visible in the new gross fixed capital formation time series "P51 / N115+N117 Cultivated assets and intellectual property products", of which research and development activities form a majority.
The ESA 2010 review does not have a considerable effect on the quarterly cyclical or seasonal variations of gross domestic product, as the review does not affect the statistics on turnover and wages and salaries used as the source data for value added and GDP.
Other changes to the Quarterly National Accounts have been made in the same connection:
- The calculation method and system of household consumption expenditure have been renewed, as a result of which the time series of this transaction and its sub-items (durable, semi-durable and non-durable goods, services, tourism expenditure) have changed.
- In all volume series at reference year prices, the reference year has been changed to 2010.
- Added new time series: "P41 Actual private consumption expenditure" and items D1, D2, D3 and D4 of primary income from/to the rest of the world.
