Business services statistics will be published as statistics on service industry commodities
The name of the statistics is changed to describe more closely the content of the statistics, because the statistics now cover not only industries producing services for enterprises but also other service industries.
The business services inquiry collects information on the production of services. Enterprises are asked about the breakdown of turnover by product category. In addition, it is requested to specify possible sales to households (private customers) by product category.
From 2020 onwards, the data collection and the statistics will be extended to new industries and services. The significance of services in the economy has grown and the compilation of statistics on the product structures of service industries is expanded to cover new industries to form a better picture of the structures of the economy than at present.
The new name will enter into force in connection with the release of the data for 2020 on 21 December 2021.
