Turnover in service industries fell by 7.6 per cent in May to July

Total turnover generated by service industries fell by 7.6 per cent in the May to July period of 2009 when compared with the respective three-month period of the year before. During the previous three-month period that ended in June, turnover in service industries diminished by 7.5 from one year back. Towards the end of the examined period turnover was growing in real estate activities, arts, entertainment and recreation, and in information and communication activities. Services are here examined exclusive of trade and the data have been adjusted for working days by eliminating effects of calendar variations from them.

Turnover in transport and storage fell by 18.6 per cent year-on-year in the May to July period. In the examined period turnover also decreased in accommodation and food service activities by 3.6 per cent, in information and communication activities by 3.3 per cent, in professional, scientific and technical activities by 7.6 per cent, and in administrative and support service activities by 2.2 per cent when compared with the respective period of the year before. Among the service industries turnover grew most in real estate activities, where it was 6.3 per higher in the examined period than in the corresponding period of the previous year. In arts, entertainment and recreation turnover grew by 2.3 per cent and in other service activities by 1.2 per cent from the year before in May to July.
