Turnover in service industries increased by 5.3 per cent year-on-year in February to April
According to Statistics Finland, turnover in service industries grew by 5.3 per cent in February to April from the corresponding period of the year before. The biggest service industries measured by turnover, that is, information and communication activities and transportation and storage activities, clearly picked up from one year ago. Information and communication activities grew by 5.6 per cent. Transportation and storage activities grew by four per cent year-on-year. Services are here examined exclusive of trade.
Three months' year-on-year change in turnover in services (TOL 2008)
In transportation and storage activities, warehousing and support activities for transportation (+4%), land and rail transport (+3.8%) and water transport (+3.7%) grew almost at the same rate. The growth in information and communication activities was upheld most by information services activities (+12.1%).
Administrative and support service activities were boosted most by employment activities (+13.2%). Growth in security and investigation activities was subdued (+0.1%), while one year ago growth amounted to 18.7 per cent.
Professional, scientific and technical activities were boosted by the sub-industry other professional, scientific and technical activities (+14.4%). Research and development activities (-1.8%) brought a slight dip to the industry.
The turnover development of other service activities almost halted (+0.2%). Of its sub-industries, the turnover of repair of computers and personal and household goods decreased by 5.6 per cent.
Changes in the Tax Administration's self-assessed tax data have not so far had an effect on the data of turnover indices
The effects of the changes in the Tax Administration's self-assessed tax data have been analysed in Statistics Finland’s turnover indices. Based on the analyses, no significant changes for statistics production were observed in the value added tax reporting of enterprises.
