Building costs rose by 4.2 per cent in twelve months

Building costs rose by 4.2 per cent from August 2007 to August 2008. Labour costs in construction went up by 4.5 per cent, prices of materials by 3.9 per cent and those of other inputs by 4.9 per cent year-on-year. This is indicated by the building cost index of Statistics Finland.

From July to August 2008, the total index of building costs rose by 0.1 per cent. The prices for labour and the prices of materials went up by 0.2 per cent. Those for other inputs went down by 0.2 per cent.
