Building costs fell by 0.7 per cent in April

Building costs were 0.7 per cent lower in April 2009 than in April 2008. Labour costs in construction rose by 3.9 per cent in the year. By contrast, prices of materials fell by 2.2 per cent and those of other inputs by 4.3 per cent. This is indicated by the Building Cost Index of Statistics Finland.

From March to April, the total index of building costs fell by 0.4 per cent. The prices for labour fell by 1.0 procent and the prices of materials by 0.1 procent, whereas those of other inputsremained unchanged from March.
