Building costs fell by 1.2 per cent in May
Building costs were 1.2 per cent lower in May 2009 than in May 2008. Labour costs in construction rose by 3.1 per cent in the year. By contrast, prices of materials fell by 2.4 per cent and those of other inputs by 5.3 per cent. This is indicated by the Building Cost Index of Statistics Finland.
From April to May, the total index of building costs fell by 0.2 per cent. The prices for labour fell by 0.3 procent, the prices of materials by 0.1 procent and those of other inputs 0.3 procent.
