Building costs rose by 0.3 per cent in February year-on-year

According to Statistics Finland, building costs rose by 0.3 per cent in February 2017 from one year back. The prices of materials went up by 0.8 per cent and the prices of services by 1.3 per cent. The prices of labour inputs in construction, in turn, fell by 0.6 per cent compared with February of the previous year. The fall in the prices of labour inputs is explained by lower social security costs compared with 2016.

Long term development of the Building Cost Index

From January to February, the total index of building costs fell by 0.1 per cent. The prices of labour inputs went down by 0.2 per cent and the prices of materials by 0.1 per cent. The prices of services remained unchanged from the previous month.
