Employment grew in September 2005

According to the Labour Force Survey of Statistics Finland, the number of employed persons was in September 2,400,000, i.e. 32,000 higher than one year previously. The employment rate stood at 68.0 per cent, while it was 67.2 per cent in September 2004. In the January to September period of 2005 the average number of employed persons was 2,402,000, which is 32,000 higher than in the corresponding period of the year before.

There were 184,000 unemployed in September, i.e. almost same number than in the previous year. The rate of unemployment was 7.1 per cent, while it was 7,2 per cent one year before.
