Employment and unemployment in May 2006

According to the Labour Force Survey of Statistics Finland, the number of employed persons was 2,439,000 in May, i.e. 23,000 higher than one year before. The employment rate stood at 68.7 per cent, while it was 68.5 per cent in May 2005. Adjusted for seasonal variation, the employment rate was 68.5 per cent.*

The number of unemployed persons was 275,000 in May, almost the same number as one year previously. The rate of unemployment was 10.1 per cent, while it was 10.2 per cent one year earlier.
