Employment and unemployment in July 2006
According to the Labour Force Survey of Statistics Finland, the number of employed persons was 2,540,000 in July, i.e. 46,000 higher than one year before. The employment rate stood at 71.8 per cent, while it was 70.7 per cent in July 2005. Adjusted for seasonal variation, the employment rate was 68.5 per cent.
The number of unemployed persons was 179,000 in July, i.e. 18,000 lower than one year ago. The rate of unemployment was 6.6 per cent, while it was 7.3 per cent one year earlier.
