Unemployment fell in January 2007

According to the Labour Force Survey of Statistics Finland, the number of employed persons in January was 2,380,000, or 27,000 higher than a year earlier. The employment rate stood at 67.1 per cent, while it was 66.6 per cent in January 2006.

The number of unemployed persons was 195,000 in January, which is 31,000 fewer than in the year before. The unemployment rate was 7.6 per cent, while it was 8.7 per cent one year earlier.
