Finland's preliminary population figure 5,503,347 at the end of November
According to Statistics Finland's preliminary data, Finland's population was 5,503,307 at the end of November. Our country's population increased by 16,039 persons during January-November. The most significant reason for the increase was migration gain from abroad, since immigration exceeded emigration by 15,907. The number of births was 132 higher than that of deaths.

During January-November, 48,810 children were born, which is 2,382 fewer than in the corresponding period in 2015. The number of deaths was 48,678, which is 882 higher than one year earlier.
According to the preliminary statistics for November, 29,900 persons immigrated to Finland from abroad and 13,993 persons emigrated from Finland. The number of immigrants was 3,100 higher and the number of emigrants 1,181 less than in the corresponding period of the previous year. In all, 6,973 of the immigrants and 9,730 of the emigrants were Finnish citizens.
According to the preliminary data, the number of inter-municipal migrations totalled 257,405 during January-November. Compared with the previous January-November, the decrease was 2 059 migrations according to the municipal division of 2016.
