Industrial output grew by 10.9 per cent from the previous year in July
According to Statistics Finland, Finnish industrial output as calculated per working day went up by 10.9 per cent in the year to July. In the January to July period, output increased by 8.8 per cent from the year before. Even the main holiday month failed to slow down the strong growth of industrial output.
Output in the metal industry grew by close on 22 per cent in the year to July. The largest output increase of good 37 per cent was recorded in the manufacture of electrical equipment. The manufacture of metal products also increased by good 11 per cent and the manufacture of machinery and equipment by just over 14 per cent. In contrast, the manufacture of vehicles contracted by good 10 per cent from last year's July.
In the year to July, output went up by close on seven per cent in the wood and paper industry and by good seven per cent in the chemical industry. Output in other manufacturing grew by three per cent.
Capacity utilisation rate in manufacturing was 75 per cent in July. In the pulp and paper industry, capacity utilisation rate was good 95 per cent, in the metal industry nearly 72 per cent and in the chemical industry close on 75 per cent. Capacity utilisation rate in other manufacturing was good 67 per cent.
