Industrial output grew by 13.7 per cent from the previous year in August
According to Statistics Finland, industrial output as calculated per working day grew by 13.7 per cent in the year to August. In the January to August period, output increased by 9.4 per cent from the year before.
Output in the metal industry went up by good 28 per cent compared to August 1999. Output growth continued in all main branches of the metal industry. The manufacture of electrical equipment increased most, by as much as good 48 per cent. Over 35 per cent more cars and trailers were manufactured than in last year's August.
Output in the wood and paper industry grew by good 6 per cent and in the chemical industry by almost 10 per cent in August. Output in other manufacturing industry went up by almost 4 per cent.
Capacity utilisation rate in manufacturing was good 87 per cent in August. In the pulp and paper industry, capacity utilisation rate was over 97 per cent, in the metal industry good 88 per cent and in the chemical industry nearly 80 per cent. Capacity utilisation rate in other manufacturing was 81 per cent.
