Producer prices rose by 0.1 to 1.0 per cent from October to November

According to Statistics Finland, producer prices went up by 0.1 to 1.0 per cent from October to November. Import prices rose most, by 1.0 per cent. This was mainly attributable to higher prices of crude oil and natural gases, oil products, iron, steel and iron alloys, and chemicals and chemical products. In the year to November, import prices have increased by 13.2 per cent.

Export prices rose by 0.1 per cent in November. The prices of fur products increased most. The rise of the index was curbed by lower export prices of oil products.

Producer prices for manufactured goods, which measure the price development of goods used in Finland exclusive of tax, rose by 0.5 per cent in November. Increases were highest in the prices of coke and iron ores. In the year to November, producer prices for manufactured goods went up by 8.9 per cent. This was chiefly due to increased prices of oil products, crude oil and natural gases, pulp, base metals, and construction.

Producer price indices measure the development of commodity prices from enterprises' viewpoint. The basic price index for domestic supply measures the development of prices exclusive of tax of goods used in Finland as they enter the market. The wholesale price index describes the change in the purchase prices of goods used in Finland inclusive of tax. Both these indices contain domestic and imported goods.

The HWWA Index, used to measure the dollar-based world market prices of raw materials, rose by 1.8 per cent from October to November. The month-on-month change of the overall index without energy products was 0.6 per cent.
