Inflation stayed at 1.8 per cent in March
According to Statistics Finland, the year-on-year change in consumer prices, i.e. inflation, was in March the same as in February, 1.8 per cent.
Higher food prices, primarily those of fruit, vegetables and meat, raised consumer prices most in the year, by 0.9 percentage points. Risen prices of cultural and leisure goods and services accounted for 0.3 percentage points of inflation and rent increases and higher health care prices for 0.2 percentage points. In contrast, the fall in interest rates lowered inflation by 0.7 percentage points. Prices of liquid fuels were still lower than last year, which curbed inflation by 0.3 percentage points.
From February to March, consumer prices rose by 0.5 per cent, which was mostly due to the end of clothes sales and higher prices of liquid fuels.
