Industrial output grew by 4 per cent in June from May
According to Statistics Finland, seasonally adjusted industrial output went up by 4.0 per cent in June from May. In May seasonally adjusted output decreased by 1.6 per cent from April.

Compared to June 2001, seasonally adjusted industrial output went up by 5.3 per cent. From January to June, seasonally adjusted output was, however, 1.6 per cent lower than in the corresponding period the year before.
Industrial output grew further in several industries compared to June last year. Manufacture of electrical products increased most, by good 32 per cent. In the wood and paper industry output rose by nearly 7 per cent. In the chemical industry output also went up by 3 per cent from the year before. Output decreased most in energy supply, by close on 15 per cent. The fall in energy supply is partly attributable to increased imports.
Capacity utilisation rate in manufacturing was good 82 per cent in June, which is 3 percentage points more than in June 2001. In the pulp and paper industry, capacity utilisation rate was over 81 per cent, in the metal industry good 85 per cent and in the chemical industry good 77 per cent. Capacity utilisation rate in other manufacturing was nearly 77 per cent.

Revised data for June will be published on 30 August 2002 at 8 am in connection with the industrial output data for July. Because of the method used, seasonally adjusted figures for previous months may change even if the original figures did not become revised.
