Industrial output in November up by 0.9 per cent from October
Seasonally adjusted industrial output rose by 0.9 per cent in November as compared with October, according to Statistics Finland. The rise in seasonally adjusted output from September to October was 1.1 per cent.

Compared with November 2001, seasonally adjusted industrial output was up by 4.9 per cent. From January to November, seasonally adjusted industrial output was 1.6 per cent higher than in the corresponding period the year before.
In November, output grew most in energy supply, by 21 per cent. In the wood and paper industry output increased by nearly 10 per cent. Manufacture of electrical products was nearly 7 per cent higher than in November of the year before. Output of other manufacturing and chemical industry decreased from the year before.
In November, capacity utilisation in manufacturing was close to 88 per cent, or more than 2 percentage points higher than in November 2001. The capacity utilisation rate was 93 per cent in the pulp and paper industry, 91 per cent in the metal industry, and 78 per cent in the chemical industry. The capacity utilisation rate in other manufacturing was 78 per cent.

Revised data for November will be published on 31 January 2003 at 8 am in connection with the industrial output data for December. Because of the method used, seasonally adjusted figures for previous months may change even if the original figures have not been revised.
