Industrial output fell by 0.3 per cent in June from May
According to Statistics Finland, seasonally adjusted industrial output went down by 0.3 per cent in June 2003 from May. In May, seasonally adjusted output increased by 0.2 per cent from April.

In June 2003, seasonally adjusted industrial output was 3.8 per cent lower than in June 2002. Output went down by most in the manufacture of electronic and electrical products, by close on 14 per cent. Output in other metal industry fell by nearly 3 per cent and in the pulp and paper industry by nearly 1 per cent. Output increased most in energy supply, by 15.4 per cent. Output in the chemical industry also grew slightly. Seasonally adjusted output for the January to June period remained unchanged compared with the corresponding period of last year.

Capacity utilisation rate in manufacturing was good 80 per cent in June, which is 2.1 percentage point less than in June 2002. In the pulp and paper industry, capacity utilisation rate was 82 per cent, in the metal industry close on 81 per cent and in the chemical industry 76 per cent. Capacity utilisation rate in other manufacturing was 77 per cent.
Revised data for June will be published on 29 August 2003 at 8 am in connection with the industrial output data for July. Because of the method used, seasonally adjusted figures for previous months may change even if the original figures do not become revised.
