Producer price indices in January 2005
According to Statistics Finland, producer price indices rose by between 0.6 and 4.5 per cent in the year to January. The biggest increase of 4.5 per cent was recorded in import prices. Import price index was particularly raised by higher prices of crude oil, processed metals and basic chemicals. Export prices increased by 1.1 per cent from January 2004. Risen prices of oil products and basic chemicals had the most impact on the rise.
From December to January producer price indices rose by 0.5 to 1.6 per cent. Import prices rose most, especially due to higher price of crude oil. Export prices rose by 0.8 per cent in January. The rise was mainly due to higher prices of oil products, pulp, paper and paperboard, and basic chemicals.
