Growth in output continued in October

The volume of total output increased by 5.4 per cent in the year to October. The Monthly Indicator of Total Output of Statistics Finland shows that output went up in all main sections of industry. Apart from being upheld by exports, growth also continued to be sustained by domestic demand, reflected in rapid increases of output in construction, trade and commerce, as well as transportation.

Output in construction continued brisk, showing an 11 per cent increase compared to last year's October. Output in agriculture and forestry grew by 7.2 per cent. In trade and commerce, output was up by 6 per cent and in transportation by 8.6 per cent. In the year to October, output in manufacturing as calculated per working day increased by 6.6 per cent. Other services and government services were up by 1.5 per cent.

The Monthly Indicator of Total Output is based on eleven monthly series on different sectors of the economy. The series are summed up by weighting.
