Number of marriages entered into grew in 2022

According to Statistics Finland, 21,942 marriages were entered into in 2022. The number of marriages entered into increased by 2,363 from the previous year. A total of 21,519 marriages between opposite-sex spouses were entered into, which is 2,315 more than in the year before. Same-sex spouses entered into 423 marriages, 48 more than in the previous year. Even though the number of marriages entered into grew from the previous year, it was still the second lowest in over 100 years.
