Turnover in trade decreased by 1.6 per cent in July 2023

Growth in motor vehicle trade continued in July

Among the main industries of trade, turnover grew strongest in motor vehicle trade, where working day adjusted turnover grew by 10.5 per cent and sales volume by 7.0 per cent in July from one year back.

Working day adjusted turnover in the trade industry with the biggest turnover, wholesale trade, decreased in July by 7.6 per cent, and sales volume by 0.4 per cent year-on-year.

In retail trade, working day adjusted turnover grew by 3.2 per cent in July but sales volume decreased by 1.1 per cent. The turnover of daily consumer goods trade increased by 6.0 per cent from one year back, while the volume of sales fell by 0.2 per cent in the corresponding period. The turnover of department store trade grew by 4.3 per cent, but the volume of sales went down by 2.3 per cent year-on-year. In specialised store trade, turnover declined by 2.3 per cent and the volume of sales by 5.1 per cent.

Seasonally adjusted turnover grew compared to June

Seasonally adjusted turnover in total trade increased by 0.2 per cent in July from June. The seasonally adjusted volume of sales decreased by 0.2 per cent. In June, seasonally adjusted turnover fell by 1.5 per cent and sales volume by 1.4 per cent compared to the month before.
