Number of students in vocational education 347,700 in 2023

According to Statistics Finland, there were 347,700 students in vocational education in 2023. The number was 6,100 higher than in 2022. The number of degrees completed was 68,500. The number grew by 200 from the year before.

Key selections

  • In 2023, the number of students in initial vocational education was 262,800, in further vocational education 59,100 and in specialist vocational education 25,900.
  • A total of 45,000 initial vocational qualifications were completed, 16,300 further vocational qualifications and 7,200 specialist vocational qualifications.
  • Fifty-two per cent of vocational education students and 55 per cent of attainers of qualifications were women.
  • The most popular fields of education were technology, health and welfare, and services.
