A total of 65.5 per cent of passers of the matriculation examination in spring 2023 were left outside education

According to Statistics Finland, there were 26,400 new completers of the matriculation examination in the spring term 2023, of whom 57 per cent were women. Seventy-seven per cent of new passers of the matriculation examination applied immediately for further studies, but only 34.5 per cent continued studies immediately. Twenty-one per cent of new passers of the matriculation examination continued in university education, 12 per cent in university of applied sciences education and 1.5 per cent in vocational education.
