Producer prices of agricultural products fell by 7,9 per cent in the first quarter of 2024

According to Statistics Finland, the producer prices of agricultural products fell by 7.9 per cent in the first quarter of 2024 compared to the year before. The prices of vegetable products went down by 9.1 per cent and those of meat and animal products by good 7.2 per cent.

Key selections

  • The producer price of milk went down by 11.6 per cent in the first quarter of 2024 from one year ago. The producer price was around one-third higher than the price level of the base year 2020 of the index.
  • The producer price of meat decreased by 2.7 per cent in the first quarter of 2024 from one year ago. The annual change in the producer price of meat turned negative for the first time since 2021.
  • The price of cereals fell by 13.8 per cent in the first quarter of 2024 from one year ago. The price of cereals has evened out to a level around one-half higher than that of the price level of the base year 2020.
