Turnover of construction decreased by 4.8 per cent in December 2023 from one year ago ago
releaseAccording to Statistics Finland, the working day adjusted turnover of construction enterprises decreased by 4.8 per cent in December 2023 compared to the previous year. The volume of sales, from which the impact of price changes has been eliminated, went down by 4.7 per cent. The decline in construction was most affected by the weak development of turnover and sales volume in building construction.

The latest industries defined by the Business Register will be adopted in the statistics in February 2024.

The turnover and sales volume of construction decreased in most industries
In December 2023, working day adjusted turnover in construction of buildings fell by 11.9 per cent and sales volume by 11.8 per cent compared to one year ago. In turn, working day adjusted turnover in civil engineering increased by 5.5 per cent and sales volume by 4.2 per cent from the previous year. Turnover in specialised construction activities went down by 2.1 per cent and sales volume by 2.0 per cent from one year ago.

Seasonally adjusted turnover in construction increased by 1.7 per cent in December 2023 compared to November. Seasonally adjusted sales volume increased by 1.8 per cent from November.
