Volume of waste generated in 2022 decreased considerably from the year before – due to a decrease in the amount of waste from mining and quarrying and industries processing waste

According to Statistics Finland, a total of 113 million tonnes of waste was generated in 2022. This is 9.3 per cent less than one year earlier. The volume of waste generated decreased mainly as a result of a decline in waste from mining and quarrying and secondary production. The amount of waste from construction decreased by around 18 per cent.
