According to Statistics Finland’s preliminary data, prices of old dwellings in housing companies decreased in the whole country by 3.3 per cent in 2024 from the previous year. Of large towns, prices fell most in Vantaa (-5.7%) and Helsinki (-4.5%). Prices fell least in Oulu (-1.4%) and Espoo (-2.4%). Prices went down by 2.2 per cent outside large towns.

Read more about the correctionIn 2024, prices of dwellings in blocks of flats fell most for small dwellings. Prices of one-room flats decreased by 4.3 per cent and those of two-room flats by 3.9 per cent. Prices of family dwellings went down by 3.3 per cent.
Prices of dwellings in blocks of flats fell most in Greater Helsinki especially for smaller dwellings. Prices of one-room and two-room flats in Greater Helsinki fell by 4.8 per cent and prices of three-room flats and larger dwellings in blocks of flats went down by 4.0 per cent.
Of large towns, prices of one-room flats fell most in Espoo, by 7.8 per cent. In turn, prices of two-room flats and three-room flats fell most in Vantaa, where prices of two-room flats went down by 9.0 per cent and those of three-room flats by 5.2 per cent. Outside large towns, prices of small dwellings also fell more than those of large dwellings. Prices of one-room flats fell by 3.4 per cent, those of two-room flats by 3.2 per cent and those of three-room flats by 1.7 per cent.
Prices of dwellings in terraced houses went down in the whole country by 2.3 per cent from one year back. In Greater Helsinki, prices of dwellings in terraced houses fell by 3.2 per cent and in the six largest towns by 3.0 per cent. Of large towns, prices of dwellings in terraced houses fell most in Helsinki (-5.9%) and Turku (-5.4%). Prices of dwellings in terraced houses went down by 1.7 per cent outside large towns.
Prices of old dwellings in housing companies fell in almost all regional centres in 2024. Prices fell most in Kajaani (-5.7%), Lappeenranta (-5.3%) and Mikkeli (-4.3%).
Of the regional centres, prices rose only in Rovaniemi, by 2.2 per cent. Prices fell least in Lahti (-0.1%), Vaasa (-0.2%) and Kotka (-0.7%). Of the regional centres, prices of old dwellings in housing companies fell more than in the year before only in Kajaani, Lappeenranta and Mikkeli, while in other towns the fall was smaller than in the year before.
Compared to the previous year, prices of new dwellings in housing companies fell by 2.3 per cent in the whole country and by 5.0 per cent in Greater Helsinki. Prices fell by 0.2 per cent in the rest of the country.
Prices of new dwellings in terraced houses rose by 0.6 per cent and those of dwellings in blocks of flats fell by 3.1 per cent in the whole country. In all, 13 per cent fewer sales of new dwellings in housing companies were made than one year earlier.
