Number of vocational education students and qualifications grew in 2024

According to Statistics Finland, there were 353,000 students in vocational education in 2024, which is 5,300 more than in 2023. New students numbered 144,100, which is 1,700 more than in 2023. The total number of vocational qualifications completed was 75,500. The number of qualifications grew by 7,000 from the year before.

  • In 2024, the number of students in initial vocational education was 263,500, in further vocational education 60,900 and in specialist vocational education 28,700.
  • A total of 46,800 initial vocational qualifications were completed, 18,700 further vocational qualifications and 10,000 specialist vocational qualifications.
  • Fifty-two per cent of vocational education students and 55 per cent of attainers of qualifications were women.
  • The most popular fields of education were technology, health and welfare, and services.
