Share of persons working in human health and social work activities among employed persons grew again in 2024

According to Statistics Finland, there were 2,423,000 jobs in Finland at the end of 2024, which was 6,000 more than one year before. Examined by industry, the number of jobs grew most in 2024 in human health and social work activities and in transportation and storage. There were large differences between industries in the shares of women and men.

  • Altogether 18.9 per cent of employed persons worked in human health and social work activities in 2024.
  • Enterprises employed 60 per cent of all employed persons.
  • The most female-dominated industry was human health and social work activities, and the most male-dominated industry was construction.
  • In 2024, workplace self-sufficiency, or the jobs in the area divided by employed persons living in the area, was highest in Mainland Finland in Harjavalta, Pietarsaari, Pyhäntä and Helsinki.
