Turnover in trade grew by 2.5 per cent in January 2026

According to Statistics Finland, turnover in total trade adjusted for working days increased by 2.5 per cent from one year ago. The working day adjusted volume of sales in total trade, from which the impact of price changes has been eliminated, grew by 3.0 per cent.

Turnover increased in all biggest industries of trade

The working day adjusted turnover of motor vehicle trade increased by 1.9 per cent year-on-year in January 2026. Sales volume grew by 1.8 per cent from one year ago.

Working day adjusted turnover in the trade industry with the biggest turnover, wholesale trade, increased in January by 1.9 per cent and sales volume by 3.1 per cent year-on-year.

In retail trade, working day adjusted turnover went up by 3.3 per cent in January and sales volume by 2.7 per cent year-on-year.

Seasonally adjusted turnover increased compared to December

Seasonally adjusted turnover in total trade grew by 0.7 per cent in January 2026 compared to December 2025. Seasonally adjusted sales volume increased by 0.7 per cent. In December 2025, seasonally adjusted turnover fell by 0.3 per cent and sales volume by 0.4 per cent compared to the month before.
