Classification of wellbeing services counties adopted in regional accounts

Date of change:

Data will be published in the StatFin database tables of regional accounts with the classification of wellbeing services counties starting from 1 December 2022.

The classification of wellbeing services counties divides Finland into areas that will in future organise healthcare, social welfare and rescue services. Data according to the classification of wellbeing services counties can be used to examine the economic development of wellbeing services counties in the context of national accounts. Data can be found on industry-specific gross value added and household income. The published data start from the year 2000.

There are 21 wellbeing services counties and the City of Helsinki also organises these services. Åland remains a separate area and it is not included in the health and social services reform.

Data according to the classification of wellbeing services counties can be found in all StatFin tables of regional accounts. The data can be selected by writing “HVA” in the search field of the Area selection and activating the “Beginning of word” selection. Then only data concerning wellbeing services counties can be searched from the table. Regional accounts data are still published on the level of major regions, regions and sub-regional units.
