Turnover in service industries grew by 4.4 per cent year-on-year in December to February

According to Statistics Finland, turnover generated by service industries grew by 4.4 per cent in December to February when compared with the respective period one year previously. One year before, turnover went up by 3.4 per cent over the same period. Services are here examined exclusive of trade.

Three months' year-on-year change in turnover in services  (TOL 2008)

Turnover grew in December to February in all main service industries. Turnover rose fastest in real estate activities and in administrative and support service activities. The growth was lower than in the year before only in information and communication enterprises and in arts, entertainment and recreation.

In December to February, turnover in real estate activities reached a growth of 9.6 per cent from one year back. In the same examination period administrative and support service activities attained a growth of 8.8 per cent. Of the sub-industries of administrative and support service activities, employment activities grew most strongly, where turnover rose by as much as 18.3 per cent from one year ago.

Of the main services industries, transportation and storage still developed weakest, as turnover increased by 0.2 per cent from one year ago. Within the industry, turnover developed most favourably in warehousing and support activities for transportation, which went up by 2.9 per cent year-on-year. Turnover in road and railway transport grew by 1.8 per cent, while turnover in water transport contracted by 2.0 per cent from one year ago.
