Building costs fell by 1.7 per cent in June

Building costs were 1.7 per cent lower in June 2009 than in June 2008. Labour costs in construction rose by 2.7 per cent in the year. By contrast, prices of materials fell by 2.9 per cent and those of other inputs by 6.0 per cent. This is indicated by the Building Cost Index of Statistics Finland.

From May to June, the total index of building costs fell by 0.2 per cent. The prices for labour remained unchanged from May, the prices of materials fell by 0.3 procent. Those of other inputs also remained unchanged from May.
